How do I set the date and time on my pedometer?
(if applicable to this unit)

The process for changing the mode of readings is unique to your model. Please check your instruction manual or contact our support representatives at 800-634-4350. If you need an electronic copy of your manual please click here for a list of manuals available for download.

How to I determine my stride length?
(if applicable to this unit)
Walk 10 steps with your normal stride. Measure the distance from START to END in inches. Calculate your stride length by dividing the total distance that you measured by 10 then divide that number by 12. Stride length= Total distance in inches ÷ 10 (# of strides) ÷ 12 (inches per foot)

For example:
Total distance (10 strides) = 320"
Stride length Formula = 320" ÷ 10 ÷ 12" = 2' 8".

How do I calculate lean body mass?
(if applicable to this unit)
If you would like to manually calculate your lean body mass you can do so by subtracting your body fat in pounds from your total body weight. You can determine the amount of body fat in pounds by multiplying your weight by the body fat percentage. For example, a 200lb person with 20% body fat would have 40 lbs of fat (200 X .20). His lean body mass would then be 200-40= 160lbs.

How do I switch between kilograms and pounds?
(if applicable to this unit)
The process for changing the mode of readings is unique to your model. Please check your instruction manual or contact our support representatives at 800-634-4350. If you need an electronic copy of your manual please click here for a list of manuals available for download.

Is there a recommended time to take a measurement of your body fat?
We recommend you take the measurement in the morning before you exercise, eat, drink or take a shower. This will give you opportunity to develop a trend and a good comparison by day.

Six Steps to Healthy Living

Stay Physically Active
People often have misconceptions about the intensity and type of exercise needed to produce healthy benefits. The best way to become physically active is to find something you enjoy doing when it's convenient for you.

Eat Foods Low In Saturated Fats and Cholesterol
The American Heart Association recommends that you limit your average daily cholesterol intake to less than 300 milligrams.

Maintain Proper Weight
Measurement of body fat composition is the key to long-term success.

Have Regular Medical Checkups
You and your doctor must work together to keep your health in check.

Don't Smoke or Use Other Tobacco Products
As soon as you stop smoking, your risk of heart disease and stroke starts to drop.

Have Your Blood Pressure Checked Regularly
High blood pressure makes your heart work harder, which may add strain on the heart and arteries. If you have high blood pressure, follow your doctor's advice about changing your diet and lifestyle habits.

What is "Morning Hypertension" and how do I know I have it?

Morning Hypertension is defined as the weekly average for morning blood pressure reading (blood pressure measured within 1 to 2 hours after awakening in the morning) exceeding 135/85 mmHg.

There are two types of morning hypertension:

Patients either have consistently high blood pressure through the night or experience blood pressure increases while asleep.
Patients experience extreme dips in blood pressure at night and extreme surges in the morning.

In either case, it is very difficult to detect morning hypertension. By the time patients go to see a doctor, their blood pressure may have already decreased--making the condition impossible to diagnose. That is why doctors recommend monitoring blood pressure at home.

Significant Impact
There are important reasons why patients are being encouraged to differentiate between general hypertension and morning hypertension. It is common knowledge that cardiovascular events and stroke are more common in the morning, and both appear to be linked to morning hypertension. Organ damage and diabetic complications also seem to correlate with morning blood pressure surges.
