Basic instructions:
The ACCUSPLIT Setting Procedure - S1, S2, S3, S4

The ACCUSPLIT Setting Procedure makes it easy to set up any of our products, even if you don't have the instructions handy.

Also known as "S1234" the setting procedure looks complicated at first, but most people really like it once they understand how it works.

Below, we describe how to use the ACCUSPLIT setting procedure. Press the button on the product marked "S1" "S2" "S3" or "S4."

S1 - Enter setting mode (usually 2 second button hold).
S2 - Select the field to be set.
S3 - Change the value of the field being set.
S4 - Exit setting mode (usually 2 - 4 second button hold)

Here's an example:

You have an ACCUSPLIT pedometer and want to set the clock, but have lost the instructions.

1. Find the button labeled "S1." Press and hold the button
for two seconds to enter setting mode. You'll notice that one of the display fields starts to flash, indicating that you are in set mode.

2. Find the button labeled "S2." Repeatedly press the S2 button to cycle through all of the settable fields. Keep pressing the button until you see the clock Hours field start to flash. Now, you are ready to set clock hours.

3. Find the button or buttons labeled "S3." These buttons increase or decrease the value of the field being set. In our example, pressing "S3" will change the Clock Hours value. Some products have two buttons labeled "S3." In that case, if you look more closely, you will see that one button says "S3-" and one says "S3+" S3+ increases the Clock Hours, and S3- decreases the Clock Hours. Set the Clock Hours to the correct time using the S3 button(s).

4. Now, press "S2" to change the field being set to Clock Minutes. It's probably the field right after Clock Hours, so you'll just have to press S2 once. When you stop pushing the buttons, you want to have the Clock Minutes field flashing.

5. With the Clock Minutes field flashing, press the S3 button(s) to adjust the Clock Minutes to show the correct time.

6. You are now done setting the clock. Press and hold the "S4" button for 2-4 seconds to exit setting mode.

You're all finished! See, that wasn't so bad, was it? And, now you know how to set all ACCUSPLIT products, even without having the manual!

Guidelines for cleaning/sanitizing ACCUSPLIT pedometers:

1. Remember that the cases are not water resistant. Care must be taken to ensure that liquid does not get inside the case when cleaning, to avoid potential damage to the circuit or battery.

2. To avoid getting liquids inside the case, wipe down the case with a damp cloth or paper towel, rather than spraying directly with cleaning products or water.

3. Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, soap and water, and common cleaners such as Formula 409 / Fantastic / Windex are all OK to use.

4. Do NOT use petroleum-based oils or solvents (such as nail polish remover), as these will damage the case.

5. If liquid does get inside the pedometer, the unit will often be salvagable if prompt action is taken. Remove the faceplate by inserting a coin into the slot at bottom of case. Remove the battery and dry it off. Blot very gently with a paper towel or tissue to get any remaining water out of the case. Allow to dry for several hours, out of direct sunlight. Then, replace the battery and press the faceplate back into place. Press the reset button to restore power. If unit fails to power up, the battery has probably been depleted (due to shorting) - replace it with new battery of same type.

How to wear your ACCUSPLIT pedometer

The pedometer should be worn above the knee. So, you should first choose the side of the body on which you wish to wear the pedometer. It doesn't matter which side you pick.

While gently holding the pedometer's belt clip open, slide the pedometer onto your belt or the top edge of your pants or skirt, above the knee on the side of the body you chose. The pedometer should fit snugly on your clothing, and be level.

Note: The pedometer should be as vertical as possible. Walkers with larger stomachs may find it helpful to wear the pedometer farther back on the body, toward one hip.

To avoid losing or dropping your pedometer, use a safety leash to fasten the pedometer securely to your
clothing. All ACCUSPLIT pedometers come with a free safety leash.
